Proximity Sensor - 3 mm Diameter, Shielded, Normally Closed - NPN
2318402Wintriss offers this 3mm diameter shielded proximity sensor as a useful sensor for detecting small features, especially when space inside the die is at a premium. This sensor has an unthreaded housing and should be epoxied into a slip-fit hole. If the sensor is to be removed from the die during maintenance, epoxy it into a removable bush or insert.
This inductive proximity sensor is Normally Closed; it actuates (turns On) when metal leaves the sensing field, and turns Off when metal enters the sensing field. Normally closed sensors such as this one are often used to detect holes.
This sensor features an IP 67 environmental rating and, like all of Wintriss's inductive proximity sensors, this sensor is immune to non-metallic contaminants and oil resistant.
Inductive proximity sensors are excellent and trouble-free general purpose die protection sensors (or any other application where the sensing target is made of metal). They're fast, precise, accurate, will not wear out, are not affected by lube (even water-based), and are easy to install.
