This extra-long range 12 mm diameter shielded proximity sensor is Normally Closed, which makes it useful to detect holes.

It has a 9mm sensing range, and is one of the most useful general-purpose die protection sensors.   This sensor has a threaded housing, and should be secured into an M12 x 1 threaded hole with thread locker.  If the sensor is to be removed from the die during maintenance, epoxy it into a removable bushing or insert.

As a Normally Closed sensor, it actuates (turns On) when metal leaves the sensing field, and turns Off when metal enters the sensing field.  

Like all of our inductive proximity sensors, this sensor is immune to non-metallic contaminants, oil resistant, and features an IP67 environmental rating.

Inductive proximity sensors are excellent and trouble-free general purpose die protection sensors (or any other application where the sensing target is made of metal).  They're fast, precise, accurate, will not wear out, are not affected by lube (even water-based), and are easy to install.
